WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is to "know thyself".  It is not something that you do.  It is a state of being that you achieve.  Once achieved, you are then able to connect with your "inner self".

 

WHAT IS SAHAJA YOGA MEDITATION?

Sahaja Yoga meditation is simple and spontaneous. The word Sahaja means "inborn" and the word Yoga means "union" in the Sanskrit language. To achieve this "union", there exists within every human being, a complete spiritual mechanism known as the "subtle system".  The key element of the subtle system is a primordial, motherly energy known as "Kundalini", which rests in the Sacrum bone in a dormant state. The knowledge of the existence of Kundalini is ancient and well documented in scripture.  But the knowledge of how to awaken Her is sacred.  In modern times, Sahaja Yoga provides the channel by which this energy may be effortlessly awakened and our spiritual evolution may be attained effortlessly.

Sahaja Yoga is primarily a method of meditation and as such does not require complicated postures or rituals, chanting or austere practices.  Meditation is a way in which one turns their attention inwards in order to find quietude and peace.  This allows one to establish a balanced approach in everything one does and enables one to tackle the problems associated with everyday life with calm detachment.  Meditation enables one to become one's own "guru"
or teacher.  In turn this allows us to detect problems on all planes of existence (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) and correct them.

Meditation is often defined as taking a moment to sit quietly or to ponder.  Achieving a true state of meditation, however goes beyond this.  It is a state of profound, deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent, yet completely alert.  This is just the beginning of an inner transformation that takes us to a higher level of awareness.  This enables us to fulfill our true human potential.
